Good morning! I hope you enjoyed the lovely weather during half term! It's not such a bad thing, a little rain now, especially for the gardens!
For your writing activity today, you will need a book you have read recently, or would like to take some time to read it before your writing.
It can be a short book, or a longer one, your choice!
Writing a Book Review
We all have opinions of the books we read and either we like them or we don’t. We can reflect on a book in a number of ways: How did it make you feel? Did it make you laugh? Was it scary? Did you learn anything?
There are many
ways we can write a book review. You
might start with your opinion right away or instead give a brief (not too much
detail) outline of what the book is about.
This is a guide
for a short review, though I think you will be able to add more detail than is
given here. Write yours on a separate
page, using full sentences, don’t write on this guide page. Before you start, have a look at the link
below it by for an author’s very useful tips.
These will definitely help you with details.
Have a look at this
Books Trust link below to give you an idea of what to aim for. Read under each subheading carefully, for
example:
1) Start with a couple of sentences describing what the
book is about.
2) Discuss what you particularly liked about the book
3) Mention anything you disliked about the book
… and
so on along with the very helpful tips underneath each subheading.
