Bonjour! Bonjour! Bienvenue vendredi!
Let’s put some
of our practice with colours in French into some conversation phrases. Can you work out what this question means? (Quelle = what)
Hint:
Have you noticed that the last word sounds like its English
equivalent: preferred.
So, this
question means, 'What is your preferred
colour?' In English it would more
often be, What is your favourite colour? but it means the same thing.
The response to
the question
‘Quelle est ta couleur préferéé?’ in this example is
Ma couleur préferéé est le bleu. (My preferred/favourite colour is blue.)
(‘…comme tes yeux’ with this one means ‘like your eyes’! 😍)
Have a little
practice with asking and answering the question of someone’s favourite
(preferred) colour aloud - in French, of course! Try it with at least five different colours, so five different sentences exchanges. Write them down once you’ve said quite a few
without being shy!
Like this:
Quelle est ta couleur préferéé?
Ma couleur préferéé est le

For art we often need to combine colours to make new
ones. Can you remember which primary
colours go together to make secondary colours?
For example red + yellow = orange. in French: rouge +
jaune = orange (sounds like ‘or-aanj’)
