Measuring Time  

What units do we use to measure time?  You know it!
Hours, minutes, seconds
Years, months, weeks, days

These are all units of time.

You can use your knowledge of how many seconds in a minute and how many minutes in an hour, along with your skills of multiplication and division to convert between different units of time!

Have a think about everyday activities that you do.

What activity might last:
one hour?
one minute? 
one second?

Sort your own activities along with the examples under these headings, depending on the approximate length of time they take to complete:



Look at the picture of the analogue clock above, or if you have one on the wall.  If you don't remember how many seconds are in a minute, or how many minutes are in an hour, count in fives, not in ones!
