Today I would like to move on with our work on decimals and look at dividing 2 digit numbers and dividing by 100 .
Drawing a place value grid like the one below will help.
5 ÷ 100 = 0.05
5 moves 2 places because we are dividing by 100.
It moves from the ones to the hundredths.
Now have a go with 2 digit numbers divided by 10.
To divide a two digit number by 10 move each set of counters (or number if you prefer) one place to the right
1.The counters in the ones move to the tenths
2. The counters in the tens move to the ones.
21 ÷ 10 = 2.1
