Maths Friday 12th June

Measuring Time

using 24 hour digital clocks

How many days in one year?  Does every year have the same number of days?
Use your clever knowledge about time to work these out:

Always, sometimes, never?
There are 730 days in two years.

We are now going on to convert between analogue and digital times using a 24 hour clock.  We will use 12 and 24 hour digital clocks to explore what happens after midday.

How will the time be show for 3 o’clock in the morning/afternoon?  How do you know?

Explore an interactive 12 and 24 hour clock using this link.  Have plenty of practice and try lots of different times on your own.

What do you notice about the time 1 o’clock in the afternoon on a 24 hour digital clock?

 Use the Switch Clock Type buttons to see both 12 and 24 hour digital clock times.

Always, sometimes, or never?

Finally, have a go at these and try to make some to play with someone with you!
